RTIP students had the rare opportunity to speak with Thoroughbred trainer Stacy Campo at Turf Paradise. Campo started training horses in 2012 and had her first career stakes win with Arizona Moon in the 2015 Lost in the Fog Juvenile Stakes at Turf Paradise. Throughout her career, Campo has won 75 races and notably, trained Arizona Bred Outside the Law.

She took the time to introduce students to each of her horses and explained that her father was an attorney, so most of her horses have names connected to the law industry such as Crown ProsecutorIt’s not the lawLegal Mischief, and Ricorda Sette. She also spoke about being a woman in a mostly male-dominated sport, and her efforts to hire as many female grooms and jockeys as possible to bring more representation to the sport.

Stacy Campo’s passion for the sport and commitment to uplifting women in racing left a lasting impression on RTIP students. They are grateful for the chance to learn from her experience and insight and are inspired by her dedication to make a difference in the Thoroughbred industry.
